On December 19, 2014, Brass City Charter School 2nd graders furthered their learning about Waterbury by visiting the Mattatuck Museum. We took a walk around the Green to see Carrie Welton’s statue of Knight, explored the paintings in the museum, and visualized what the town looked like in the 1800s. We had a chance to simulate building a town and watching how the land in Waterbury has changed over time as rivers shift and get filled in for land. The museum curators also showed us some artifacts from the time period. We learned so much about how Waterbury began and the important people in Waterbury’s history! Thank you, Mattatuck Museum and the Ion Bank Foundation, which made our visit possible!
